This VI will create a file for your program settings. You may think it's nothing special, but you may get some problems saving ar changing settings in the EXE-folder if you are not the windows administrator.

This VI will also create a new folder:

C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Name of your application

and create there desired file for settings.

i am using the window-folder-path.vi, and i am trying to open a folder using the drives directory.
i am getting an error stating that The folder role is not valid.

please can you help me

Would you post a screenshot of window-folder-path.vi or VI itself, so I can see what can be the problem. I don't know this VI. Where is the drives directory? Do you mean the workspace, where all drives are listed?
